Engine Nameplate
There are two nameplates for the engine. One is located on the top of the oil cooler shell, and the other is located above the flywheel housing at the rear of the engine cylinder block. The nameplate records the key data or codes of the engine. When ordering parts, the data or codes on the nameplate must be specified. The nameplate shall not be altered or replaced without the approval of Cummins Engine Company, which is an important basis for ensuring the compatibility of the ordered parts.
Water and Oil Drainage
- Open the air release valve on the thermostat housing, and at the same time open the water drain valves on the oil cooler shell and water pump to drain all water from the engine. If there is a compressed air system, the air should also be released.
2.Remove the oil drain plugs from the oil pan and the cover of the oil pan connecting plate to drain all the oil. It should be particularly noted that when draining the oil, the oil drain plug on the cover of the oil pan connecting plate must be removed; otherwise, the oil cannot be completely drained.
3.When the fuel drain plug is installed under the fuel filter housing, drain the fuel from the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel pipes to avoid fuel residue affecting subsequent maintenance operations or causing safety hazards.
