Disassembly of Rocker Arm Chamber, Water Outlet Manifold and Thermostat Housing
The water channel cast in the rocker arm chamber and the water delivery pipe sealed with O-rings form the water inlet manifold with lock rings for positioning. The rocker arm chamber is assembled with the cylinder head using positioning pins. When disassembling the rocker arm chamber from the rear of the cylinder block:
- Remove the lock ring of the water delivery pipe between the 5th and 6th cylinders.
- Use the ST-1319 pipe removal tool to drive the water delivery pipe into the 5th rocker arm chamber until it does not touch the flange of the 6th rocker arm chamber.
- Remove the screws of the 6th rocker arm chamber and take the rocker arm chamber from the cylinder head.
- Remove the water delivery pipe from the 5th rocker arm chamber and discard the O-ring.
- Disassemble the 5th, 4th, 3rd and 2nd rocker arm chambers in the same way. Before disassembling the first rocker arm chamber, the thermostat housing must be removed.
- Remove the bypass pipe, turbocharger oil inlet pipe and air compressor oil drain pipe (if not removed previously) from the rocker arm chamber.
- Remove the support frame on the rocker arm chamber.
- Remove the screws that fasten the thermostat housing to the gear chamber.
- If the fan hub has not been removed, lift the thermostat upward to get out of the way of the fan hub support, and pull the thermostat housing and water delivery pipe away from the rocker arm chamber.
- Remove the remaining rocker arm chambers from the cylinder head.
Fuel Injector Disassembly
- Remove the fuel injector pressure plate.
- Use the 3376000 fuel injector removal tool or other suitable pry bars to take out the fuel injector. To avoid soiling the sleeve and nozzle seat surface of the fuel injector, do not remove the plunger and spring.
