Disassembly of Flywheel Housing and Oil Seal
- Remove the oil seal plate and discard the oil seal and O-ring.
- Remove the mounting screws that fasten the flywheel housing to the cylinder block.
- Pass through the flywheel housing and screw two 5/8-11 guide studs into the cylinder block to support the flywheel housing during disassembly.
- Gently tap the back side of the flywheel housing with a soft-faced hammer to disengage the flywheel housing from the positioning pins.
- Use a suitable lifting device and hoist to lift the flywheel housing from the guide studs. Keep the flywheel housing stable during the hoisting process.
Disassembly of Connecting Rod-Piston Assembly
To facilitate the removal of the piston pin,
Rotate the engine so that the top surface of the cylinder block faces upward. Remove all carbon deposits from the upper part of the cylinder liner wall, polish it with fine emery cloth, and thoroughly clean the polished area.
Remove the connecting rod bolts and caps. The connecting rod caps are assembled on the rod body using positioning sleeves. When removing the connecting rods, gently rotate the crankshaft.
When taking out the connecting rods, be careful not to damage the cylinder liner. Re-pair and assemble each connecting rod with its corresponding cap, ensuring that the side of the connecting rod cap marked with a number faces the side of the rod body marked with the same number.
Use the ST-1269 piston ring expander to remove the piston rings and discard them.
Remove the piston pin retaining rings.
